THE MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE
SEEKS LOCAL YOUTH TALENT

FOR PUBLIC AUDITIONS FOR EVITA CHILDREN’S CHOIR!

(Jupiter, FL) - August 11, 2008 - The Maltz Jupiter Theatre will hold public auditions for the children’s choir in Evita to seek local talent! The spotlight is on South Florida this summer for kids to have their chance to perform center stage in a production that is part of the Theatre’s season. Auditions will be held at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on Monday, August 25th from 3pm – 7pm for children ages 7 - 12 years old. All participants should be prepared to sing a song, learn a simple dance sequence and lyrics from an Evita selection.

According to Artistic Director, Andrew Kato, “This year’s campaign, ‘We Create Art’, will generate many opportunities for the community to become involved in what we do best, create great plays and musicals! This audition is one of those opportunities to take part in the complex process of putting a show together.”

Evita, an epic rock opera will be the largest production ever mounted at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre since its doors opened four years ago. The cast will consist of more than 16 actors and a children’s choir of twelve local singers. The choir will be
double-cast for the entire run of the production with alternates to fill in as needed.

Rachel Blavatnik, Associate Producer of the Theatre, who is responsible for scheduling auditions, says, “There are so many talented children in this community that will now have the rare opportunity to be on a professional stage. If these children are chosen to be a part of Evita, they will work side-by-side with some of the country’s greatest professional directors, designers and actors!”

Winner of seven Tony Awards, Evita is the compelling and captivating mega-musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice that tells the story of the life of Argentina’s infamous Eva Person as she climbed her way up the ladder of success to share the power of her country’s leader, General Juan Peron. Performances of Evita at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre start March 17 and run through April 5th, 2009.
